Chapter 9

The Flood

The Flood deserves an entire book dedicated to the subject. This event is so instrumental in changing the conditions on the planet and life on Earth that it needs some attention. Discerning what the Flood caused and changed will reveal what the conditions and life on Earth looked like from creation till the Flood. One can interpret the Bible’s flood record and use the Bible’s record to interpret observable evidence to understand from coal mines, shallower salt mines (the deeper salt mines were formed during creation), oil reserves, petrified wood, dinosaur fossils, layers of soil in the crust, deserts, polar ice caps, the continental shelf, seashells on top of mountains, ancient cultures with flood stories, large asteroid impact craters, tectonic drifts, mountains, and valleys. All that we see today can be explained in the context of the Flood, either directly or indirectly, including the notion that mankind once lived 900+ years while dinosaurs roamed the earth.

We’ll go through a description of the Flood based on the Bible, including hypotheses based on deduction from observable evidence and science and then attempt to break down the major points throughout this book, hoping that by covering the major points, the fine details associated with the Flood will also be exposed. The overall goal is to use the Flood to shed more light on what the environment and life were like on the planet before the Flood at the time of the origins of life.

The Bible records that God stored water in three locations at the time of creation to allow optimal living conditions on Earth. Two of those locations were later used for judgment with the Flood. One location of water storage was in the deep caverns just below the surface, which housed a great deal of water (Gen. 7:11). The second location of water storage was in the canopy of salt water, which held a great deal of water hovering above the atmosphere (Gen. 1:6–8). The third location of water was the seas (including fresh water lakes per Gen. 1:9–10). The potential percentages of water in these three locations that currently make up our oceans and seas, range from 33%–50% in the canopy, 25% to 40% the deep caverns, and 20% to 33% as seas. This utopian setup that God created was called Eden, from the time of creation until the Flood. There were no large oceans, but there were small seas, and the exposed land was covered in lush vegetation. Where was most of the water? it was stored up in the canopy of water and deep caverns below the surface. There were no polar ice caps or deserts, but plenty of vegetation. There were no four seasons, just spring. There was too much atmospheric pressure from the canopy of water to form clouds, and therefore there were no rain and no rainbows (Gen. 9:13–16). Resulting from evaporation and high atmosphere pressure, the hydrological cycle skipped clouds and rain and went straight to a mist that rose from the ground and watered the whole earth (Gen. 2:5–6). With no polar ice caps and no hot equator, there was no jet stream (Gen. 8:1). The moon was closer and larger, which caused sea tides to be greater. The earth spun faster, which shortened the day to around 17 hours. As a result of this canopy of water (and other factors) hovering above the atmosphere, a large increase in the buoyancy effect reduced net gravity by around ~20%–25%. With no oceans, ice caps, or deserts, there was more vegetation, and this produced more oxygen. The result of weaker gravity and greater oxygen allowed dinosaurs to grow to massive heights and sizes (Job 40 and 41 Leviathan) despite having porous bones and allowed humans to live to 900+ years of age (Gen. 5). There was a supercontinent called Pangaea (Gen. 1:9 and 10:25) that potentially covered 70%–80% of the earth’s surface. With that much surface area of usable land, vast amounts of vegetation produced large quantities of oxygen, causing life to thrive.

But then mankind sinned and set in motion an environment in which all of creation would groan and suffer (Rom 8:22) until the Messiah returns as a conquering lion to restore all of creation back to its pre-fallen state at origins (Isa. 11:6–10). At the moment of the first sin in the Garden of Eden, the movements of judgment began with the inner earth churning to set up future earthquakes and future volcanic activity and future tectonic plate movements. Though connected as Pangaea until the Flood, the potential energy began building up for the judgment at the global flood. Asteroids were colliding in distant space to set off chains of events for future collisions with Earth, yet the result of these movements and activities wouldn’t be seen until the earth passed through the path of these asteroids and meteors. The canopy is morphing from a spherical shape to a disc-like shape from its spin with the earth. With a more abundance of water pooling along the central portion that is closest to the pull of the moon’s influence. So that occupants on the surface of the planet could see a visible arch in the sky.

As time passed on, Adam and Eve had many children. The birth of Seth was when Adam and Eve were 130 years of age. Thus, it is plausible that they were obedient to God’s command on the sixth day to multiply, and they could of had a hundred plus offspring by the birth of Seth. There are estimates that the population from Adam to Noah, with people living 900+ years and having many more children, that the population was 7 billion people at the time of the Flood.

Mankind from the first sin till the commencement of the Flood became so wicked that the Bible records that some demons left their natural abode and bore a half-demon, half-human creature with the daughters of men and produced offspring called the Nephilim, who were mighty giants and men of renown. (Gen. 6:1-8) says “that every intent of the thought of his heart was only evil continually. The LORD was sorry He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. . . But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.” Unfortunately, one of Noah’s sons married a daughter of these Nephilim. We may infer this by the record of when Moses was about to enter the promised land many years after the Flood, 10 of the 12 spies said they had seen giants, the offspring of the Nephilim (Numbers 13:32–33), which means that at least one of the offspring of the demons survived the Flood inside the ark as one of the eight passengers. This could explain why Judas Iscariot is called the son of Satan (the son of perdition) and the Antichrist is also called the son of Satan (the son of perdition). This means that the lineage of Satan still lives today and is being groomed as the final Antichrist.

120 years pre-Flood:

When God saw the wickedness of mankind, He said you have 120 years until judgment (Gen. 6:3). Noah and his three sons got busy building an ark that was 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet tall, with lower, second, and third decks (Gen. 6:15–16). This provided 15 feet for each deck, made out of gopher wood and covered inside and out with pitch (a petroleum resin) (Gen. 6:14). The total volume was 1.4 million cubic feet. Imagine the faithfulness of Noah and his family to build an ark for 120 years, when it had never rained one time. It is doubtful that they were even near a lake.

Seven days pre-Flood:

Two of every kind of land and air creature entered the ark, one male, one female. This includes dinosaurs and other very large creatures, but excluded aquatic life. Utilizing young animals, especially when it came to reptiles, would have solved the logistical problems, and would solve predatory problems. With seven days before the commencement of the Flood, Noah entered the ark, sealed by God (Gen. 7:4 and 7:11).

The first day of the Flood:

As asteroids neared the earth ±1,600 years after creation (±4,400 years ago around 2,400 BC), some collided with the moon and many collided with the canopy of salt water on their way to Earth. As a result of the multiple collisions with the canopy, the asteroids broke the frozen support arch structures of the canopy and caused it to slowly come down upon earth, as gravity gradually pulled it down. This would have been a slow descent that spanned 40 days from start to finish because the canopy had zero descent speed and had centripetal force from spinning ~1,600 mph, and since the canopy’s bulge was at the equator, it would have spanned tens of miles of altitude at its apex central portion, and by this point after 1,600+ years of spinning, there may not be any water hovering over the atmosphere at the polar regions. With rain drops having a maximum terminal velocity of ~10 mph at Earth’s surface,¹ and having a large equatorial bulge from its spin, the water would have come down over a duration of 40 days and nights, and not all at the same time.
